Passing of Rob Deneweth

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine is saddened to report the death of Rob Deneweth, Ford Racing Powertrain Supervisor.

"All of us at Ford Racing are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague and friend Rob Deneweth," said Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing. "Those of us at Ford involved in the racing program are very much like a small family, and when you lose a member of your family, you grieve and feel a real loss. Rob was a terrific engineer who did such great work, including his effort with the most recent Twin-Turbo Cobra Jet project. All of us at Ford Racing send our deepest condolences to Rob's wife, Julie, and their three children. We have lost a true friend."

Rob was with Ford Racing for five years, and with Ford Motor Company for over 20 years. Among his many duties, Rob worked on the Boss 302 S and R racecars and oversaw all modular and pushrod engine development for Ford Racing. Rob also worked on all the current Cobra Jet powertrains, including the latest twin-turbo model, which debuted at the SEMA show just weeks ago.

1. I feel fortunate to consider Rob a friend of mine. I am absolutely stunned by his passing. Anybody who had the pleasure of meeting him will remember his kind heart and playful personality. Rob had a very competive spirit and excelled in everything he did. I never raced against Rob in BMX, or SCCA, but I did train everyday at lunch time with him, and I can say that he was a fierce competitor who really helped push me during a good workout! Rob also carried that spirit out at work where he really cared about what he did. I had the pleasure of working with him for the past 5 years he had been with Ford Racing Performance Parts.Rob really knew how to deliver and I got to see first hand how a concept was seen through to fruition. Everyone can thank Rob for the success of the CJ Mustangs because he played a big part in their success! Words can't express the sorrow that I am feeling for his family right now, but please know that he spoke about each one of you everyday. Rob, I will miss you! Every time I fire up a 5.0 on the dyno I will think of you and the good times we had making big power!

2. It is with the deepest sympathy that I am writing this post. I was blessed to have worked with Rob for 3 years on the Super Cobra Jet Engine on the NICHE Line at the Romeo Engine plant. Rob was one of the most talented and gifted engineers that I have ever worked with. His passion for his work and the Race community were second to none.
Rob always stayed until the job was done and honored us whenever he came to oversee our builds. I extend my deepest sympathy to his wife and children. I pray that the good Lord will give them peace and comfort through this trying time.
His family will gather with friends Thursday for visitation from 2-8 pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap St., Northville.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Oak Pointe Church, 50200 West 10 Mile Road, Novi.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Deneweth children payable to Julie Deneweth in care of Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville MI 48167.

3. I met Rob at the 2009 PRI show during AETC where He made a presentation. What a great guy! And FORD BLUE, too. He will be missed
