GREAT BEND, KS (May 2009)—While competing at a recent NHRA Lucas Oil Divisional race at S.R.C.A Drag Strip in Great Bend, Kansas, Travis and Trent Gusso of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, took home the coveted Best Engineered award sponsored by Mark Williams Enterprises.
Gusso's Competition Eliminator Mustang was home-built in the family garage, dubbed Dakota Speed Lab, and it features a high-winding (10,000 rpm) Kuntz & Co.-built small-block Ford engine and a G-Force Racing Transmission clutchless five-speed. The Mustang runs in the 8s using natural aspiration and was featured in the May 2009 edition of MM&FF. Congratulations to the Gusso brothers.
