When it comes to Ford and performance we just can’t get enough. Our staff loves all types of Mustangs and Fords, new and old—big or small. We are always on the lookout for the hottest Stangs and sometimes we find them in obscure places. Sometimes they even get shipped in the mail. Say What?
A quick trip through MM&FF command central will show off the piles of racing memorabilia, cool pictures, posters and of course, Ford die-cast cars. We have many model Fords and we have them in many sizes, but the most recent to come across our desks are these dandies from Johnny Lightning.
Johnny Lightning has been in business since 1968 and it makes thousands of model cars, many of which are Fords. It specializes in small-scale cars and trucks, but don’t let the small size fool you. These models offer great detail, authenticity, and they are a lot of fun to collect. The variety is down right unreal. Below is a brief listing of some of the hot new Fords and the story behind them.
Tasca Mustang- This Bob Tasca Boss 429 is part of Racing Legends release 1. One of the most popular Racing Legends releases JL has ever done. It had to do this car in 1:64 scale as it did the 1:18 scale years ago. JL says there is more to come from Tasca as it has a T-Bolt planned in the future.
1972 Ford Torino- Part of Musclecars release 20. This car has a die-cast body and die-cast chassis with opening hood. This is a brand new casting in the JL line with this being the first release. The release has two possible wheel variations.
1965 Mustang #6- This is a weekend racer, not a Spoiler, like some diehard JL collectors think. Part of the JL40th Ann line release 2. This car also has two wheels variations with one being gold painted 5-spoke rims to match the gold racing stripes running down the center of the body.
1968 Shelby- This yellow Shelby is a fantasy racer and all part of the JL40th Anniversary line. Its big gumball on the side allows collectors to customize it with their favorite number.
1965 Mustang- This ‘65 Mustang is part of the JL40th anniversary line. It’s coated in Metallic Blue Flake. This version has the white tires making it a White Lightning chase car. This car is part of the 1st assortment of the JL40th line. Overall, the JL40th line is doing amazing at Wal-Mart and we can’t keep the stores stocked!
JL products can be found at many local hobby stores, along with Wal-Mart, Target and many more. For more information check out www.johnnylightning.com.
