Ever since BOTB / FFW announced it was closing its doors the NMRA has been inundated with phone calls and e-mails from racers, fans and sponsors eager for an all-Ford Texas event.  The NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals is currently in discussions with Houston Raceway Park to host a post-season NMRA Lonestar Shootout event the weekend of Nov. 13-15, 2009.

While not an official "points" event, the Lonestar Shootout would bring the NMRA to the great state of Texas, one of the top Mustang & Ford markets in the U.S.  The Shootout would feature 3X Super Street Outlaw champ John Urist taking on local hometown hero Richard Lelsz, and former world champ and legendary Texas racer Mike Murillo taking on Pro Outlaw 10.5 superstar Dwayne James.  The event would also host a combined EFI/Hot Street heads-up class, several Open Comp and Index-style classes, True Street,  Fords vs. The World Bracket Racing, and a special Lonestar Shootout True Street Quick 16 class on Sunday.  Of course every NMRA event features a huge manufacturers' midway & swap meet and a giant all-Ford auto show & shine.

"The NMRA needs to extend its brand into Texas, one of the hottest Mustang markets in the country," said Charlie Harmon, VP at ProMedia LLC.  "The opportunity to showcase the NMRA Ford Nationals and its excitement to thousands of fans and new racers is very important and we are working hard with Houston Raceway Park to make this a reality.  Stay tuned for more NMRA Texas event information over the next few weeks."
