April 2, 2009—In bold fashion, the 2008 Cobra Jet belonging to Erich and Herb Bollman of www.cmcresto.com, made it’s maiden voyage down the quarter-mile at Atco Raceway in Atco, New Jersey.
“I finally got our CJ down the track yesterday at the Atco, NJ P.C. Richard & Son NHRA Open race test session,” stated Erich. “On the third run we got the car to go 9.88 at 137 mph, so Dad and I are very happy. What a blast!”
This is amazing performance considering the team had never been down track with the car and Erich is just getting comfortable with the CJ and the Frank Lupo-prepared C4 automatic. Erich normally drives the team’s 7-second, stick-shift Ford Probe, but in ’09 he will have two cars to drive at most events. “We are still conservative on the set up of the car so it will definitely go faster. We are going to work on the suspension in the first half of the track so look for quicker elapsed times in the future.”
MM&FF will be following the car and reporting on its performance as it progresses. It is currently raining in Atco, so look for more info right here as the weekend progresses.
