Odds are if you called Evolution Performance or stopped by the shop (Aston, PA), you have come in contact with shop manager Fred Cook. Since he deals in high performance parts all day long, it is no surprise that his street car is a hard-hitting machine that goes mid 9s. The shop is more known for its Shelby Mustang mods but the truth is, they work on plenty of Mustangs including Three-Valve ones. Fred's '05 is a testament to the company's skills.
The combination is simple and big boost from a Kenne Bell 2.8H blower is the main ingredient for power. The short-block benefits from a Cobra crank, Manley rods, and CP pistons. Up top, OEM heads were ported and polished and have a set of Comp blower cams bolted on.
The aforementioned KB blower huffs 25 psi of boost into the engine and American Racing Headers whisk away the spent gases. Backing the sick engine combo is a C4 automatic. The car made 808 rwhp on Evolution's dyno.
The company installed its mail-order six-point roll bar to keep the car legal to 10.00. The unfortunate part of it is that Fred's Stang ran a best of 9.51 at 145 mph, before the tracks closed for the winter. The Evolution guys say there is more in the car and they are shooting for the low 9s once the tracks open in a few weeks.
The best part of it all, Fred says he drives the car on nice days to work, a 22-mile one way commute.
