Back in December '08, Toyo Tires officially announced a new DOT-legal drag radial tire called the Proxes TQ. It is geared towards the hardcore street enthusiast who prefers to drive to and from the track on the same set of tires.
Toyo engineers designed a new tread compound and design, which is geared towards both street and strip. I checked out the tire and spoke with the Toyo representatives at the MPMC Media conference last week. The Proxes TQ seems to fall in place in between strip-only drag radials and the more street-oriented entries in the market.
Toyo has released these sizes: P255/50R16, P275/45R16, P275/40R17, P315/35R17, P345/40R17 and P315/35R18 and they will be adding more sizes as demand and requests increase.
We are hoping to put a set of Proxes TQ through its paces on a variety of vehicles this Spring when Englishtown reopens.
