LIVONIA, Mich. (February 10, 2009) - Race fans attending the events
surrounding the Daytona 500 expect to see plenty of fast race cars, but
a drag car is probably one type they certainly wouldn’t anticipate
being at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
However, spectators
now have an opportunity to see the ROUSH® Stage 3 Mustang drag car of
Susan Roush-McClenaghan, the daughter of Jack Roush, as well as have the
chance to meet her and get an autograph.
Roush-McClenaghan competes in the NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford
Nationals drag racing series, finishing third in the ROUSH Modular
Muscle class last season. Additionally, she competes in the NMCA
Edelbrock Muscle Car Nationals series. In three years of professional
racing, she has gone to the final round six times and won one event.
Her car is a 2001 ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang that was formerly used as a
calibration-development vehicle by the ROUSH engineering group prior to
conversion into a drag racing car. The car is powered by a 4.6L,
two-valve engine that generates 530 horsepower thanks to the added
ROUSHcharger®. One small touch that visitors may notice is the hand
airbrushed illustration of her daughter Josie as “Tinkerbell” on the
trunk.
Roush-McClenaghan and her car will be stationed inside the racetrack at
the “FANZONE” area from Thursday, February 12 through Saturday,
February 14. She will move to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
hospitality chalet on Sunday, February 15.
At both locations, fans are welcome to meet Roush-McClenaghan, get an
autograph and photo, and talk about racing. Having grown up with her
father around the racetracks, she has plenty of stories to tell. For
