Hellion Power Systems never fails to impress us and this time they hit the market with a brand new twin turbo system, designed for the '07-'09 Shelby GT500s. The twin turbo kit is designed to work in conjunction with the factory supercharger, a concept that Hellion brought to the Mustang market a year and a half ago with a wild twin turbo combo for Terminator Cobras. It allows for the best of both worlds, great low-end torque from the blower and gleaming top-end power from the twin turbos. It might not be the ultimate setup for racing, but it is one of the neatest street combinations we have ever tested. The driveabilitiy with compound boost is great, there is little-to-no lag. The power comes on cleanly and eventually becomes violent, definitely a fun ride.
The Hellion GT500 system is designed to produce 600-1,000 horsepower, depending on which turbos and boost is run through the engine. Obviously, the 1,000hp combo requires quite a bit of fortification to the engine, drivetrain, and fuel delivery. Hellion reports that their in-house GT500 makes in the mid 700 rwhp range and they have logged thousands of miles in testing and prototype work.
