There are two styles of spark plugs for Three-Valve mod motors and Brisk Spark Plugs has you covered.
While cruising the PRI Show last week, we bumped into Brisk Spark Plugs and they were happy to show off the company's offerings for the Three-Valve modular engines. For those who don't know, the Three-Valve Mustang first came with an odd-ball spark plug that had a long head on it before the threads as well as an squared off strap that caused new techniques to be used for gapping the plugs. The spark plug also carried a patent, and aftermarket companies had to buy into it before producing replacement plugs.
There are several companies out there who offer different heat ranges but the Brisk spark plugs are being used by the top Three-Valve racers, Justin Burcham of JPC Racing (8.38 at 165 mph) and Vinnie Barber of Modular Depot (8.72 at 160 mph). Both JPC and Modular Depot also use Brisk plugs on most of the S197 cars the shops build for customers.
The first generation Three-Valve spark plug has been overcome but in '08, Ford Motor Company changed the design again. That means for anyone looking for colder spark plugs, there wouldn't be a supply. Enter Brisk Spark Plugs, the company has developed two plugs for the '08-up cars. You can now buy one heat range colder as well as two heat ranges colder for more serious applications. As far as we know, Brisk is the only company offering these plugs.
