Shakedown at Englishtown continues to be the place to set records.

If there is one place to set records, it is at Englishtown in the Fall. The weather is exceptional as corrected altitude is usually below sea-level. The air is crisp and it is perfect for racing engines. The Shakedown at Englishtown has become the premier event for record breaking performances thanks to outstanding track prep and the magical weather conditions.

This year was no different and Tim Lynch and Steve Petty reset their own Outlaw 10.5 record with an amazing 6.49 at 230 mph. The mph wasn't a record but the elapsed time proved the duo from Pro Line Race Engines are the team to beat on 10.5W tires. Lynch runs a 620ci engine with twin Precision 91mm turbochargers.

Other records fell that same weekend, Outlaw Drag Radial saw a Mustang go 7.18 at 202 mph. Unfortunately, the car was powered by a big block Chevy engine. A Procharger blower was used to pressure the giant engine. In Pro Mod racing, Jim Halsley became the first Nitrous Pro Mod racer to dip into the 5-second zone with a 5.96 performance. He continued to run a string of sub-6 runs through the entire event. Halsley runs a Tim McAmis-built '68 Camaro and relies on a Gene Fulton 800ci engine and four stages of nitrous. In Unlimited Pro Mod, Scott Cannon Jr, son of the most famous Pro Mod racer with the same name, ran 5.72 at 256 mph. It is by far the quickest and fastest door slammer record in the history of mankind.
