Can Tim Lynch and Steve Petty be beat on 10.5W tires?
Tim Lynch and Steve Petty continue to prove they are the team to beat in Outlaw 10.5 racing, in both 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile competition. The duo run out of the Pro Line Race Engine camp and have gone 6.50s at over 230 mph at 3,000 pounds and running on 10.5W tires. On the shorter tracks down south, the superhero-like duo are also impressive. The 605ci engine wears twin Precision 91mm turbochargers.
I am impressed with Lynch and Petty's determination to keep ahead of the fields in Outlaw 10.5. They don't win every race but everyone knows them for being the quickest and fastest. Two weeks ago, Grant McCreary ran 4.29 with his Outlaw 10.5 Mustang. He runs a Pro Line 632ci engine with the same turbo setup as Lynch's ride. However, the difference is McCreary runs his engine on alcohol rather than VP gasoline like Lynch. McCreary also sports a slightly larger engine.
McCreary threw up the 4.29 and people began thinking that the Lynch/Petty reign on Outlaw 10.5 supremacy had ended. Those two guys didn't waiver one bit and went out a week later to show why they are the baddest Outlaw racers. Lynch drove the team's 2001 Mustang GT to a 4.26 and backed it up with a 4.28, showing that they are still King of the Outlaws. And they think the car can go even quicker!
