In recent weeks, we;ve seen the price of gasoline come down 20-30 cents depending on where you live. Diesel has also come down quite a bit, but i suspect this is a conituning trend that will see fuel spike again next spring.
It seems the last two or three summers, gas prices has spiked in the summer. The problem is that it never goes back down to where it started, rather it goes down about half way, so each year prices are still rising. Maybe this is nothing new and i've just started to notice it now. I wonder if the oil companies drop the price to make us feel better, hoping that we'll forget where the price started. I haven't, have you?
I have a friend who used to haul gasoline for a living and he said contrary to what you hear about usage going up in the summer, his deliveries actually tdrop off. He suspects that parents staying home with the kids during the summer just aren't driving as much.
Who do you believe? I sure don't trust what the oil companies tell us, but until we get our act together and get the government to let go of big oil and get some alternative sources going, we're all screwed.
