Can it get any cheaper to drive a new car? That is what I was asking myself this morning on my way into MM&FF Command Central. As I rolled south on the Garden State Parkway I heard a commercial for a local Ford dealer and it announced the new Focus leasing plan. The dealer was giving away the Focus for a mere $79 per month lease! I about crashed my Stang when I heard it.
I am not a fan of leasing but at that little cost, how can that be turned down? The ad didn't mention the upfront costs that are usually associated with leasing vehicles. That would factor in greatly as well as the cost of insurance. But, if someone was in dire need of a new ride and didn't run the chance of blowing through the alloted mileage, the Focus is a smokin' deal.
The lease, less taxes, would cost you less than $1,000 a month, $948 to be exact. Then throw on the usual tax and service charges, which jump the price probably by several hundred over the course of a year.
It is no wonder some automakers are turning outrageous losses on its balance sheets. With deals like that, how could Ford make any money?
