It is a horsepower war out there and the Shelby and Terminator Cobras are not slowing down. While the Shelby and Termi Mustangs have been blessed with strong internals, the Gen 2 Lightning truck's 5.4-liter engine tends to kick the rods out when power goes above the 500 rwhp mark. To remedy that problem, Paschal Performance has a new stroker engine, complete with a lighter aluminum block to replace that heavy boat anchor.
Starting on the bottom-end, Paschal starts with a Ford Racing 5.4-liter aluminum block. The shop either keeps the 3.551-inch bore intact or they can enlarge it to 3.74-inches (making the engine a 6.36-liter behemoth). The engine pictured checks in at 6.2-liters thanks to a 3.700-inch bore. The shop then adds Manley rods and pistons that can withstand over 1,000 horsepower with ease. The crankshaft is a special unit that Pashal designed and manufacturers. It is steel and said to be one tough SOB. The engine can be setup for Wet or Dry sump oiling systems. Output is 800 rear wheel horsepower with Two-Valve heads and a twin screw blower while the company's Four-Valve engine is said to make upwards of 1,000 rear wheel horsepower with big boost. Other standard features include Canton oil pan and windage tray as well as Cometic head gaskets. A special high capacity, drag race specific Canton pan is available as an option.
The shop can ship this short-block bare or they can combine it with a set of Paschal-ported Two-Valve or Four-Valve cylinder heads. The Two-Valve heads are available in Stage 3 or Stage 4 form. These heads are killer with stainless steel valves and all. Even if you don't get the short-block, you can still purchase the heads and pick up power on your Lightning.
