The new Viper ACR tops the list of famed Nurburgring's famous test track.

Who says manufacturers don't care about performance?

The ZR1 Nurburgring record went down! It didn't take long either, maybe a month or so. The new Viper ACR took the record with a 7:22. Here is the list of official times turned in by production cars.

7:26.4 Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1
7:27 Pagani Zonda F Clubsport
7:29 Nissan GT-R
7:32.02 Porsche 911 GT2 2008
7:32.44 Porsche Carrera GT
7:34 Koenigsegg CCR
7:35 Ruf Rt 12
7:39 Ferrari 430 Scuderia
7:40 Bugatti Veyron 16.4
7:40 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
7:40 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
7:40.6 Ford GT
7:42 Porsche 911/ GT3
7:42.99 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06

Apparently, the new Nissan GT-R Type V ran 7:24, unofficially and as a pre-production engineering car.

Nurburgring is a track in Germany that has become very popular as of late with car manufacturers. Not that they didn't use the 'Ring before, it is just that exotic and specialty cars seem to be shipped over there  in increasing regularity just to show how they stack up against other models. It is all about bragging rights!
