Nelson Whitlock drive's Evolution Performance's Shelby GT500 into the 8s.
This past weekend, while the crowds were at Englishtown for Pinks All-Out, the Evolution Performance guys were at Cecil County Dragway knocking down the 8-second barrier with the shop's Shelby GT500. The sinister black Shelby should be familiar to readers as it has been featured in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords several times. The latest issue (September 2008) showcases Whitlock taking the Outlaw Shelby class win at our Shelby Shootout.

The car features a stock GT500 engine (the race engine is not ready yet) with a custom twin turbo system done in-house at Evolution Performance. The car is pretty much the same as it was at our shootout, save for Whitlock and shop foreman ,Fred Cook, turning up the boos. The car makes 1,019 rwhp and 1,016 rwtq with the twin huffers stuffing big boost into the custom intake manifold.
Whitlock became the first 8-second Shelby thanks to an 8.92 at scorching 157 mph. Congrats to Whitlock, Cook, and the rest of the gang at the shop. We can't wait until they get their race engine and go even quicker!
