Modular Depot knocks off over 900 rwhp with a turbocharged Three-Valve.

Ken Bjonnes of Modular Depot called me yesterday to let me know some initial results of Vinnie Barber's late model Steeda Mustang. To recap, Barber dropped his car off at MD with strict instructions to make it really, really fast. The company's answer to its customer was a wildly turbocharged combination. BES was contracted to build a stout engine package that would last under massive amounts of boost. They obliged and returned a Three-Valve modular engine with a steel crank, billet rods, forged pistons, ported heads, and custom camshafts. MD then fired up the welders and custom fabricated a turbo system. They mounted an air-to-water aftercooler behind the dashboard and did all of the hot and cold turbo piping. The capable team at MD also prepared the rest of the vehicle for the big jump in horsepower.

Bjonnes tuned the stock computer system and still relies on the stock coil packs to charge up the spark plugs. With just 19 psi of boost, Barber's drag radial machine cranked out 913 rwhp and 706 rwtq. Bjonnes said there is more on tap but the  fuel system needs to be upgraded before the boost can go higher. They were at the limits of the dual in-tank pumps.

Stay tuned as we will update you as we get more information on this wild street machine.
