NMCA beats NMRA in Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing.

After three years of trying, Team NMCA defeated Team NMRA in the Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing, presented by Motive Gear and Nitto Tires. The Pro Media group (promoters of NMRA and NMCA) have pitted each series against each other for the past three years during the wild and crazy race weekend at Route 66 Raceway (Joliet, IL). The two series run the same weekend and compete separately until Sunday night, where the class winners from each sanctioning body square off against each other. The racers are paired by class and run off an index based on the car's quickest run of the weekend. It is a no-breakout Index match up with the winner's getting a $1,000 bonus as well as a coveted Nitto Tire Diamond Tree ring to commemorate the victory.

This year, the racers from the NMCA beat up the NMRA team in a whopping 8 to 3 victory. The only victories for Team NMRA were from John Urist, Charlie Booze Jr, and Tony Akins. Last year, the NMRA won in dramatic fashion by coming from behind to take the win in the final pairing of Pro Street and Pro 5.0. This year, however, the NMCA racers poured on the heat by taking the first 6 races of the Shootout.

It was a fun shootout and we have well over 1,000 photos from the four day fun. Look for the full results and behind the scenes action in a future issue of MM&FF!
