Motorcraft returns to NHRA's Powerade pro ranks this year.
I don't remember the last time that Motorcraft was involved in NHRA drag racing, but it has been awhile. This year marked the company's return with sponsorship on Bob Tasca III's Quick Lane Nitro Funny Car program. It was refreshing to see the Motorcraft logo after many years of being absent from the scene.
Bob Tasca III stepped up from the Top Alcohol Funny Car ranks, where he won several national events and set the record many times during his tenure in the 5-second, 250 mph category. Tasca is part of the legendary Tasca Ford family. For years, the Tasca family has sponsored John Force Racing's Nitro efforts. Their name still rides on the front of the Force cars, but according to sources, the Tasca Funny Car program is independant of that program. There were rumors floating around that Force was involved, but outside of selling Mustang bodies to the Tasca team, the two teams are seperate.
It is refreshing to see Motorcraft back in NHRA drag racing. I also enjoy seeing another Mustang Funny Car ready, willing, and able to beat out the Mopar and GM brands.
