Jim D'Amore III takes Battle of the Brands title at NMCA Atco
The NMCA Atco event was the scene of a special race within a race. The officials collaborated with a host of sponsors (Vortech Superchargers, Ford Racing, GM Performance Parts, BES Racing, and HHP) to put together a wild Shootout that would culminate in a battle of the brands final round for big bucks.
The racers were split into three classes, Mod Motor (Ford modular-powered cars only), Hemi Shootout (late model Hemi cars and trucks), and LSX Shootout (LS-powered GM cars). Each category ran an index race, essentially 1/2-second increments from 10.00 up to 15.00. The winners of each category would then compete for a Battle of the Brands final round.
Jim D'Amore III ran the tables with his Saleen Mustang as he rode a 12.00 index all day long to a double victory. He took home a Ford Racing Boss block for his Mod Motor win. He then took out a Vette in the Battle of the Brands finals to claim a $2,500 check from the NMCA and Vortech Superchargers rewarded him with a brand new blower kit. It was quite a weekend for the young racer.
