Ford's new Harley Davidson F-Series Trucks

For the past 48 hours, I have been cruising around in a 2009 Ford F1-50 Harely Davidson edition pick up truck. Ford's PR group dropped off a supercharged version of the popular H-D edition truck and I have to say I am both impressed and shocked. For the good stuff, the truck rides awesome and handles the rough NY/NJ roads rather nicely. The power under the hood, thanks to a Saleen supercharger, is a welcomed option. The 5 psi of boost (as seen on the factory installed boost gauge) gives the 5.4-liter Three-Valve engine a nice kick to get the heavy truck moving. Ford also offers optional 22-inch wheels that looks great on the bulky body.

Now for the stuff that disappointed me; the outside of the truck features a two-tone paint job, which looks nice. But Ford tried to carry the two-theme to the inside and was not nearly as successful. To each his own, but the two-tone gold interior is definitely not my cup of tea. Some may like it, but I am not that into it at all. Another disappointing part of the H-D truck is the fuel mileage, rated at 13 mpg for city and 17 mpg for the highway. Let's be real, the fuel cost problem is not something new. It has been a growing trend since 2005, maybe even a little earlier. How could Ford still not address and produce a more efficient engine for these trucks? Just last week, the news announced that F-Series trucks are no longer the best selling vehicle in the US. One of the major contributions to the falling sales are the rising fuel prices.

There are pictures of the next generation Harley Davidson Super Duty F-450 dually circulating the 'net. Wow, what a great looking truck as they brought back the optional flame treatment and stepped things up a bit. The price tag also went up, it is now over $60,000 for this baby. Pricey but you gotta pay, if you want to play.
